Marvellous independent bookshop. They run philosophy classes in the shed at the back of the shop, show local artists work and run book launches. It is the intellectual lifeblood of the village and well worth avoiding Amazon to enjoy a proper bookish ambience.
The best bookshop i know! The cultural centre of wivenhoe. The shed at the back is a universal support center for the body and soul! Long my it continue

I visited with a coach party on June 29th. It was a beautiful sunny day. The grounds are so well laid out and meticulously planned. The reservoir area is so relaxing and calming. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and passionate about their work, which shines through in the outstanding plants they have on sale, all well looked after and watered. The price of the plants offer great value for money, with a wide selection to suit every pocket. They are able to offer such great value for money as everything is propagated on site and you are able to watch the staff at work. The cafe area is also outstanding, great food, great prices. The seating area is lovely, am outside area as well as an undercover area. The prices are excellent too. Neither the cafe nor the gift shop are overpriced, which is a rarity these days. I highly recommend anyone with even the most basic rudimentary grasp of gardening, to pay this amazing place a visit and come away truly inspired. Well done to you all.
We visited in June and the Dry Garden is free with lots of wonderful plants and flowers that will grow in dry soil and do not need to be watered. There is a small fee to go around Beth's beautiful garden with its ponds and a courtyard garden near the house. I would love to visit it again as, last time we went, they were extending and replanting a large plot away from the house. The Tea Room is great and so is the nursery with a huge choice of plants.
